Services Offered

My goal is to form a partnership with you to create an interior space reflective of your tastes and lifestyle. My success is a result of your ability to both utilize and admire the end result. I thoroughly interview the client to understand how you live and use the space before moving ahead with a conceptual plan. I am always mindful of your priorities and execute them based on your resources. My strengths are my creativity, use of color, and experience in using a range of elements to achieve a successful result. I am comfortable and enjoy working in various styles whether traditional, contemporary, European influence, transitional or eclectic. I have experience working with a variety of projects as far ranging as new construction (from concept through completion) to individual room renovations and remodels. I am proud to say I have built my practice exclusively on repeat business and client referrals. Through my referral network I have also had the opportunity to utilize my creative and organization skills to consult and style special events, such as corporate dinners, receptions, and special marketing events. I am able to draw on a number of local resources such as caterers, galleries, wholesale florists, and venue coordinators to bring my professional expertise to you and create a memorable, successful event.

Biography/Education/Awards/Etc.

I am a graduate of Purdue University where I majored in Interior Design and have nearly 30 years of industry experience. Even during stints with furniture retailers, commercial restaurant designers, and managing a ceramic tile business line, I have maintained and grown my design business. During the past 10 years, I have been exclusively devoting my energies to building Walker Designs. My work has recently been featured in Housetrends magazine and my client list has continued to grow.
My influences are many. I grew up in a home that encouraged and valued my creativity. My formal Purdue education put a foundation under me to understand the tools and basic concepts of design. I spent my college summers in England with my parents and had the privilege to travel extensively throughout Europe. This furthered my understanding and appreciation of influential art and architecture that remains invaluable to this day.

My community involvement has also been instrumental in my professional development. I was active in the Junior League for many years and continue to be a sustainingmember. This afforded me the opportunity to work on many worthwhile endeavors while honing my leadership and project management skills. Additionally, in 2004, I acted on an idea and created an arts event in downtown Indianapolis. “Women and the Arts” drew upon the wealth of women artists in Indianapolis, raising the awareness of our community to the diversity, dimensions, and quality of the creative spirit that exists here. As an Allied Member of ASID, I have derived many benefits from my affiliation.

Fee Structures

I charge an hourly fee for my design services. Some jobs require only a brief consultation, while others are more detailed and require many hours of time. An hourly fee provides me with the flexibility to work with a wider range of clients and a variety of jobs. Early in the consultation process, should you want me to give you an estimate of my costs, I will be glad to give you an idea based on the size and scope of the project. Obviously, if the project changes as we proceed and grows more involved, then that will have a direct impact on my fees. I also have direct access to designer showrooms and sources for furniture, fabrics, and accessories. Should you choose to purchase any items through me via these sources, there may be a portion of your price that is paid to me that helps defray my costs of ordering, following up, coordinating delivery, accounting, and compensation for the discounts I have earned through my good credit and reputation in the industry. I do not require my clients to use these designer resources as the only alternatives when purchasing new furnishings. My mission is to find the correct piece that fits within the overall plan, whatever the source.
